#BlogchatterA2Z- F,"First Homeopathic kit for Common Injuries"

Childhood is the fundamental and learning phase of life.  During first few years of life children constantly explore their environment and learn new skills. And bumps, cut, scratches are part of this learning process. Childhood injuries are common especially when children learning to walk or ride a bike. But these incidents are more likely to be the kind that a kiss, hug or Band-Aid will fix, rather than a serious accident or rush to emergency unit bothers you and your little one.

In spite of best care and prevention, the accident happens. And First-aid kit is a necessity in every home, in a car and in the workplace. First aid kit is a collection of supplies and equipment for use in giving first-aid and can be put together for the purpose by an individual or organization. Having a well-stocked first aid kit ahead of time will help you respond effectively to common childhood injuries.
As a certified homeopathic physician, I had observed great results from homeopathic medicines in first-aid treatment. It is advisable to include first-aid homeopathic medicines to your first-aid kit for better and gentle relief.

First-aid kit should contain all basic instruments such as scissor, thermometer, bulb syringe, sterile cotton balls and gauze pads, torch, gloves and basic medications. Here is a complete guide  with instruction for essentials in first aid kit. After including all these essentials in your first-aid kit, add homeopathic remedies for an ideal and rapid cure.  It is best to understand some basic homeopathic principles before using homeopathic remedies at home.

Dose and potency- it is always best to use homeopathic medicine in 6x or 30c potency (especially when used for at home treatment) to avoid worsening of existing condition and unnecessary complications.

Repetition- as a rule of thumb, in acute disease condition frequent repetitions is allowed and in chronic disease condition avoids frequent repetition. For the treatment of common childhood problems, Take 5-6 pills of indicated remedy in 30c or 6x potency; 3-4 times a day is a safest and suggested the option. But in acute disease conditions, during first 1-3 hour of treatment indicated remedy can be repeated at an interval of 15 min. for faster relief.

Here is the list and indication of common homeopathic remedies that should be included in your first- aid kit for treatment of common childhood injuries.

Arnica- Arnica is the first remedy that used as an acute emergency remedy, especially in case of trauma, fall and bruising injuries. It helps reduce shock, relive pain, swelling and other signs of inflammation. It fastens the healing process. It remarkably improves pain and bruised sensation in kids after a routine fall. It is also an excellent remedy for before and after surgical and dental treatment.

Hypericum- kids often crushed their fingers in a door while playing and it causes unbearable shooting pain. Hypericum is an excellent remedy for injuries to nerve or parts of body had riches nerve supply, such as finger, toes and spine.

Ledum pal- punctured wound (from needle, nail or sharp object) is another common childhood injury that causes agonising pain and inflammation in kids. Of course, this kind of injuries required immediate medical attention. But a dose of Ledum pal should be administered for prevention of tetanus. It is also a good remedy for insect bites. Sharp shooting pain and coldness of affected part (but relived by a cold application) are the main indication for selection of this remedy.

Ruta- Ruta is a great remedy for all kinds of sports injuries. It can be used successfully in the treatment of injuries to ligament, tendon, periosteum or lining of the bone. Any injury to knee, thigh or elbow, when ligament or tendon pulled out, can be greatly helped by this remedy.

Calendula- it is a “Homeopathic antiseptic remedy” and must be a part of a first-aid homeopathic kit. The most common indication for use of calendula is whenever skin surface is broken and the wound is developed, it works great. It inhibits infection and promotes the healing process. It can be used internally as well as externally in the form of mother tincture or lotion.

Symphytum- it is a great “bone remedy” that help the fracture to heal more quickly. It is necessary to do all routine medical procedures (x-ray, splinting or surgery according to condition) in case of broken bone, but as an alternative medicine Symphytum gives a wonderful result.

Rhus tox- it is also known as “poison ivy”. It is another amazing remedy for the sprain, shoulder, back and neck injuries, especially when characteristic symptom “worse from first motion and relived by continuous motion is present”. The patient is usually chilly and complaint worse by cold weather.

External application- even though basic homeopathic principle emphasis on internal administration of indicated remedy but nowadays certain medicines are available in the form of a gel, ointment or spray for external application to fasten the cure.

These are:

Calendula- acts as an antiseptic and available in the form of spray, gel, and ointment and mother tincture. It has great skin healing properties and has a soothing effect on cuts, sores and general skin abrasion.
Arnica- it is available in the form of gel and ointment. Arnica gel is quickly absorbed by the skin and has a cooling effect for fast pain relief. It reduces muscle pain and stiffness due to overexertion and minor injuries.
Hypericum- it is useful for the treatment of deep cuts. It has the power to close open wounds and heal the internal structure.

Note- mother tincture should be diluted with water before application for the better result.

So these are the basic homeopathic medicines that should be a part of the first-aid homeopathic kit. If you had a holistic approach to health care and want to get a gentle and ideal cure, include these sweet tiny pills in your first aid kit and enjoy a healthy and happy life with positivity.

#BlogchatterA2Z- E "Effective 7 Reasons Why Homeopathy should be considered as an effective treatment option?

It is day 5, and as E, I am sharing Effective 7 reasons why homeopahy is an great alternative treatment option?

Here is why homeopathy should consider a good alternative treatment option?

Homeopathic medicines are safe, gentle, and non-toxic and had no adverse side effects

The first and most important reason is that Homeopathy is the safest mode of treatment. When these medicines used as directed they are completely safe for every one- including pregnant, nursing women and infants. They are given in such small doses that do not causes side effects, according to University of Maryland Medical Center, the extremely diluted nature of homeopathic remedies removes risk of ultimately negative side effects, though during first 1-2 week after administering the homeopathic medicines sometimes there is worsening of existing symptoms occurred, it is called “aggravation”, it indicates that selected medicines has started its action.

Homeopathic medicines come from a range of natural substances which can be either plant, mineral or animal based. And these natural substances make it safe and gentle to use.  These ingredients available in medicine enable the body to heal the problems naturally.

Unlikely conventional drugs, they rarely produce side effects, For instance,  antibiotics often causes diarrhoea as a common side effect. And most of the over the counter cough and cold medicines causes' drowsiness. Nowadays we all are concerned about the side effects of conventional drugs. In this scenario, homoeopathy is a wonderful treatment option. These medicines cure diseases in most gentle and safe manner, without any harmful side effects.

"Homeopathy cures a greater percentage of cases than any other method of treatment. Homeopathy is the latest and refined method of treating patients economically & non-violently"- Mahatma Gandhi.

Cures a disease from the root and gives long lasting to permanent cure

According to homeopathic principle, diseases occur because of imbalance of elements present insides our immune system and deranged our vital force. The imbalance of body’s element reduces the efficiency of our body to fight against the disease causing organisms and leads to several health issues.

Homeopathy treats a patient on both physical and psychological level and helps in curing a disease from root instead of just treating the symptoms.

Let’s consider the conventional form of treatment. If two persons suffer from the same disease and shows similar kind of symptoms, usually the treatment or medicines issues to them will be the same, but in the case  of homeopathy it is not just about the disease and symptoms. It also taken in to the accounts the peculiar and individualistic symptoms of sick person that includes past history, mental and physical general symptoms, modalities , sensations, causation etc. after collecting these symptoms an individual similimum (most similar) remedy is prescribed. And this indicated remedy acts on individual symptoms and cures a disease from the root.

Easily acceptable and tolerable treatment option

Homoeopathic medicines are administered in the form of the tiny sweet globule. Every one accept it very well, even they loved it.

It Increases immunity and resistance power of body naturally

Another prominent reason, it increases immunity and resistance power. According to homoeopathic principle, when a person suffers from any disease his vital force (resistance power) get deranged. When an indicated homoeopathic medicine is administered it acts on the vital force of the body and make it stronger. Then this stronger vital force eliminates the disease force. Thus, our inner resistance power is increased. By this way, it is an excellent method of curing a disease.

It does not interfere with other medications and can be easily used with other therapies

Homeopathic medicines are believed to be safe when used with other medicines. Although homoeopathic remedies should not replace conventional treatment for serious health concerns, but they can be used as an alternative option. For example, in the case of asthma, it is necessary to use conventional inhalers and other indicated medicines. But we can add indicated homoeopathic medicine along with them. When indicated medicine will start work on individual symptoms (it may take a time and patience is required) then the dose of conventional medicines can be tapered gradually. After a period of time patient can control his disease with homoeopathic remedy only.

A good option for at-home treatment

Because it is a gentle, safe and permanent mode of treatment and its method of dispensing medicine is also very simple. So after learning some basic principle it can be use it at home for treatment of common health problems. You only need to observe your and your family’s symptoms and any changes you might see in those symptoms. With this way, it is easy to get started using homeopathy at home especially for treating simple and common illnesses.  But for serious health concern, medical supervision is compulsory.

It can be used for acute and chronic conditions

Homoeopathy works great in treating both acute and chronic diseases. In acute disorders(like common cough-cold and fever) acute remedies work rapidly with good success and in the case of chronic diseases (where symptoms are less severe than acute disease, but they can affect seriously affect the quality of life and may worse over the time) well selected constitutional remedies may provide significant relief.

Last but not the least homoeopathic remedies are typically inexpensive and radially available. Therefore, they provide an affordable approach to healing.

There are various great books are available to know the basics of homoeopathy. One is Homoeopathic medicine for children and infants is a great book written by Dana Ullman. In this book, he explains what is homoeopathy? How does it work? How it can be used correctly to treat common childhood aliments. He included a complete guide to the use of homoeopathy and valuable information on the important remedies that all parents have in their home medicine kit. (1)

Homeopathy also has a great role in various mental and psychological issues apart from the routine treatment. ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), learning and behavioural problems and other psychological issues can be successfully treated with homoeopathy. Ritalin free kids is a great book written by Judith Reich Enberg-Ullman and Robert Ullman. This book explains the role of safe and effective homoeopathic medicine for ADHD, behavioural and learning problems. It offers a natural alternative to Ritalin and other harmful drugs. The authors describe their experience with more than 400 ADD patients whom they have treated. We will learn who lives have been dramatically changed and improved through the use of homoeopathy (2)

Nowadays, homoeopathy is so well trusted. More than 300 million patients in over 80 nations are using it. As a parent and as a physician I had always observed the miraculous result of homoeopathy. Do you have an experience with the homoeopathic treatment? Do not forget to share with us, in the comment box. Until then eat healthy and live well.

#BlogchatterA2Z, #HomoeopathyA2Z- D "Dispensing the Homeopathic Medicine"

Yes! It is day 4, alphabet “D”, and in today’s post, I will share “Dispensing of homeopathy medicine”. In simple words, how the homeopathic medicines (in which medium) prescribed?

But before moving on this step, I would like to complete the yesterday’s process. After case taking, how homeopathic therapists select a remedy?

After a long, detailed and proper case taking, the actual task of therapist gets started. “The correct selection of homeopathic remedy” is one of the most important steps that define the good result and ideal cure in given case.

For the selection of correct medicine, “The law of similar” came into the action. And the qualified homeopathic therapist gets involved in the process to match the symptoms of the patient with the symptoms of remedy. For that purpose, he mainly used three things,

Homeopathic Materia medica

It is a book of collection of homeopathic medicine with all symptoms, with the help of this book therapist matches the symptoms of patient and symptoms of remedy, the remedy that covered most symptoms, is called the “Similimum” and prescribed to the patient for getting a good result.

Organon of medicine

It is homeopathic therapeutic book that helps in deciding the potency (power) and repeat ion of selected medicine.

Repertory

It is another homeopathic therapeutic book, that helps in medicine selection (nowadays, computerised repertories are available that can help a lot in the proper selection of remedy)
After the selection of a correct remedy, it is time to dispense the homeopathic medicine.

How the homeopathic medicines are dispensed or administered?

Homeopathic medicines are usually dispensed in three forms,

Globules
These are sweet tiny sugar pills that most commonly used as a medium to dispense the homoeopathic medicine. Everyone, especially kids loved it. This medium makes the homeopathy, a gentle form of treatment. (Globules are just the medium, the actual medicines come in liquid form that poured on the globules)

Liquid

This is the second most common medium to dispense the homeopathic medicine. Liquids have strong, pungent taste and smell. In some case, they are more effective than the globules. It is very important to store liquid properly and keep away them from strong smelling substances and cosmetics, otherwise, they can get evaporate.

Mother tincture or Q

This is the crude and most strong form of dispensing homeopathic medicine. It is so bitter in taste, and homeopaths used them in certain cases. It is always advisable to take Q under proper medical guidance; otherwise, it may cause unwanted and serious side effects.

Practical tips

Here are some practical tips, regarding using homeopathic medicines.

  • Always follow your physician’s direction regarding dose and repetition of medicines.
  • Never take medicines on hands; it may reduce the efficiency of homeopathic medicine.
  • Always take medicine when your mouth is clean. Do not eat anything before or after taking homeopathic medicine (at least for 15-20 minute)
  • Store them properly; otherwise, they can lose their efficacy.
  • Avoid using onion, garlic, coffee and other strong smelling substances, this substance may reduce the actual effect of the prescribed homeopathic remedy.

So it is all for now, stay tuned to get more interesting information about the homeopathy.

Will try to cover each and every aspect of homeopathy, in this series. And hoping it will help a lot to all.

#AtoZ Challenge- C- "Case taking in homeopathy"

It is day 3 of #A2Zblogging challenge, and I am so excited to share about “Homeopathic Case taking” in day 3 post.

You might have already heard or experienced that homeopaths take a long time to record a case from patient and often asked so many questions about your mental, physical, social and emotional characteristics. Sometimes it may feel really confusing (and may be irritating too) for so many people that why they are asking all these questions that are not related with disease condition.
Today, in this post I will share the main reason behind that. It is because that homeopathy believes in the “Principle of Individualization”

 Theory of individualization

Homoeopathy works on the principle of "Individualization", in simple words each individual is a unique person and each one has their own physical, mental, social and emotional characteristics. And so that their disease too.

This is the reason that why a same medicine could not prescribed the different persons, who are suffering from the same disease condition. In short “it is all about collecting the peculiar and individual symptoms of disease person”.

Case taking

Homeopathic case- taking is a time consuming process that requires a prepared mind set and patience. During this process a trained homeopathic physician asked a long questionnaire about your disease condition and general physical and mental health. It includes:
Present disease condition, its

  1. Location,
  2.  Causation,
  3.  Any particular sensation
  4. Modalities (means when the intensity of complaint gets decrease or increase)
  5. Concomitant (any associated symptoms)

  • Past history
  • Family history
  • Physical general symptoms (appetite, thirst, sleep, dream, digestion, urine etc.)
  • Mental general (like, are you an introvert or extrovert, any other peculiar mental symptoms)
  • Social or emotional symptoms (again any symptoms or trait that is specific to you)
  • After recording all these symptoms, he observed any specific signs (signs are the things that have been observed by the physician for example: redness of eyes, paleness of skin. Sometimes these signs are so specific to a case and help a lot in choosing a correct remedy)
  • General physical examination that includes recording of temperature, blood pressure measurement, weight etc.

After this collection of symptoms and signs, he also collects important data from your past history (from any tests, or reports, if you had)

This process is very important to get the desired results from homeopathic treatment. So along with the qualification of homeopath, it is very important for patient too, that he narrates all his symptoms properly and with minute details.

Sometimes case taking may requires more than one consultation, especially in chronic cases where it is very important for physician to collect not only the present but the past symptoms as well.

Conclusion

Here I would love to share some practical tips for a proper case taking, if you or your family members are going to take a homeopathic treatment.

  • Be patient, it is a time consuming but most important process of your treatment
  • Be mentally prepared, observed yourself for ail your physical, mental and emotional symptoms
  • Be ready to answer the questions with proper detail
  • Do not except results in one single visit or after taking few days of medicine.

“In short, it is a completely individual medical science and success is all depends on the proper collection of symptoms (from physician) and proper narration of symptoms (from the patients)
So, it’s all for today’s post, please feel free to ask me any questions or doubt about the homeopathic case taking. And be ready to learn about more about the homeopathy in upcoming post! Stay tuned!

#BlogchatterA2Z blogging challenge- "B- Basic Principles of Homeopathy"

It is day 2 of #BlogchatterA2Zchallenge and I am so excited to moving one step ahead with #Homeopathy A2Z. Thanks a lot to all my dear friends for encouraging me, and I am so glad that you liked the Idea of #Homeopathy A2Z series. Also big thanks to Blog chatter, who had given this wonderful opportunity to us. It is really exciting to share our areas of expertise or any hidden passion with readers and blogging community.

So, in today’s post I would love to share “B for Basic principles of Homeopathy”.

Though homeopathy has so many principles and philosophies, and Hahnemann strongly believed that it is must to follow these principles and guidelines to achieve a gentle and ideal cure.

Before explaining the basic principle, I would like to explain the “basic concept of disease according to homeopathy”

How disease occurred?

According to homeopathic principle, vital force (in simple language immunity or resistance power) is the basic power of body that keeps body system alive and maintain its functionality. When vital force gets attacked by external forces (bacteria, virus, fungi etc.), at first instance vital force tries to fight with these external forces and try to eliminate disease force.

When the power of external force becomes stronger than vital force, vital force gets deranged (in simple words, when our body’s immunity get lowered), and produces sign and symptoms. These sign and symptoms are the indication of disease. And according to homeopathic principle, these should not be considered as a part of body got diseased. Instead, it indicates that a person got diseased; it is called the “Holistic approach” to treating a sick person.

Here I am sharing basic 4 principles of homeopathy that will help you a lot to understand this science better.

1 Law of similar

It is the basic law of homeopathy and all homeopathic remedies prescribed on this basic principle. It is also called “Simila similibus curenter”, in simple words like cures like. According to this principle, the substances that cause healthy people to get symptoms can cure diseases that have similar symptoms.

So, when a person got sick and produces sign and symptoms, a qualified physician collects his all symptoms and matches the symptoms with most similar remedy ( with the help of homeopathic Materia medica, a book that has vast collection of homeopathic remedies), then this most similar remedy is prescribed to treat the patient ideally and gently. When the symptoms match perfectly with the combination of skill of homeopathic therapist and proper narration of patient, an ideal cure happened.

2. Law of simplex

This is the second most important principle of homeopathy. According to homeopathic principle, a single remedy should be prescribed at one given time. It has been believed that if more than one medicine will be prescribed, it would become difficult to know the action of homeopathic medicine. It is always advising to collect all the symptoms of diseased individual and then prescribed only single remedy at the single time, to achieve an ideal cure.

Nowadays, with the changing time, this philosophy also gets changed especially during clinical practice. Increased pollution, hectic lifestyle, poor diet and so many other factors like this, had made it difficult to obtain the cure with a single remedy. And this is the reason that nowadays homeopathic combinations are in demand and homeopathic therapist prescribed them to get the desired result.

3.Law of minimum dose

This is the third principle of homeopathy, according to this principle a medicine should be prescribed in the minimum dose with minimum repetition. According to homeopathic principle, drugs given to a diseased person in material doses can cause unwanted side effects and adverse reaction.  It is always advisable that a homeopath should administer the smallest possible dose of indicated medicine to maximize the benefits and minimize the side effects. Also, it is better to avoid the unnecessary repetition of medicine. It is believed that unnecessary repetition reduces the positive response of indicated remedy.

4. Law of potentization

This is the fourth important law of homeopathy, it is called the “Law of potentization”, and in simple word, it is a process where homeopathic remedy is gone through a series of process, where the remedy is vigorously shaken to arouse the dynamic nature and curative power.  With this process, the quantity of crude substance gets reduced and the healing power of medicine gets increased dynamically. ( will share more about it in the upcoming post)

So these are basic 4 principles of homeopathy, please feel free to ask me any doubt or questions regarding the basic principles of homeopathy.

In upcoming post, I will share about the “C for Case Taking in homeopathy...” so stay tuned!

#BlogchatterAtoZChallenge- An Introduction to Homeopathy

Yey! It is first day of #BlogchatterA2ZBlogging challenge, and I am nervously excited to start my journey. Just keeping the fingers cross, and hoping I would succeed and share that A to z of homeopathy, in this series.

So in the beginning, I would love to share an introducation of homeopathy.

“Homeopathy is an alternative branch of medical science that is worked on the basic principle of “similia simimum curenter”, means like cures like. Homeopathy word derived from two words homoios in Greek means similar and pathos means suffering).  It was founded by German physician Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. Hahnemann was an allopathic physician and he was extremely unhappy with the traditional methods of treatment. One day, he has taken the regular doses of Cinchona or the bark and observed that his body has produced all the symptoms of intermittent fever (malaria) but to a mild degree. This incidence led Hahnemann to an idea that if a patient had an illness, it could be cured by giving a medicine which, if given to a healthy person, would produce similar symptoms of that same illness but to a milder degree.

In simple words, for an example, if a person is suffering from a certain disease (like nausea or fever) he was given a medicine which in a healthy person would provoke nausea. After so many experimentations (called proving in traditional language), Hahnemann claimed to be able the basic principle of homeopathy that is called “Like cure like” or “principle of similar”.

This theory is similar to the theory of vaccination from Edward Jenner, where the small doses of cowpox are given to the people in an effort to immunize them against smallpox.
It had been a difficult journey for the Hahnemann, and he had faced lots of criticism for his principles and theories. Despite all this, Hahnemann always had a “never give up” attitude and homeopathy continued to grow, not just because it offers a holistic and systemic approach to treat the sick people, but also because the traditional medicine was causing serious side effects and ineffective in many cases.

Though there is long history of disagreements between the traditional and homeopathic mode of treatment. I but definitely this is not a topic of discussion for us, in this series).

On the brighter and positive side,

  • Homeopathy is so well trusted nowadays and more than 300 nations are using it as an effective mode of treatment.
  • It has been recognised by WHO, as a second largest therapeutic system in the world.
  • It is well known as a gentle, ideal, free from side effect and holistic mode of treatment.
  • Nowadays, it has become the latest craze in health and wellness industry and a large number of people want to take homeopathic treatment for treating their disease condition.

Being a homeopathic therapist, I am extremely delighted to share “all about the homeopathy” through this series.
As a second article, I will share “basic principle of homeopathy”, so stay tuned! And feel free to ask any questions, doubts, below in the comment box!
